Biography
Arcie Izquierdo Jordan's practice encompasses international, transactional, transportation, trade and immigration matters.
Over the past 18 years, Ms. Jordan has assisted a broad spectrum of private enterprises to expand internationally - both outbound from the United States, as well as inbound. This has included advising on foreign investment, corporate structuring and formation, acquisitions/divestitures, corporate governance, regulatory permitting and compliance, cross-border tax, labor & employment and immigration issues so as to help her clients to plan appropriately and avoid unpleasant surprises in foreign jurisdictions. For U.S. clients, Ms. Jordan has also developed FCPA compliance policies and conducted FCPA due diligence and training; managed cross-border litigation matters, including the discovery process for companies facing disputes abroad; advised regarding international supply chain issues; assisted companies seeking to import goods into the United States and companies exporting from the United States to understand their U.S. and foreign country obligations and to structure their corresponding compliance initiatives; assisted clients with foreign subsidiaries to properly structure related party pricing and intercompany agreements; and developed expatriate and global employment-related policies for the cross-border movement of personnel to Australia, Brazil, China, the Czech Republic, India, Mexico, Norway, Singapore and South Korea. For foreign clients, Ms. Jordan has managed and coordinated expansion into the United States, and advised such foreign companies with respect to corporate structuring, tax issues, employment and investment-related immigration matters in the United States. Ms. Jordan has lived and traveled throughout Mexico and several South American countries. She is fluent in written and oral Spanish, both "legalese" and conversational, is learning Portuguese, has a working knowledge of French, and is thoroughly familiar with the nuances and cultural aspects of doing business in Latin American countries.
Ms. Jordan has practiced extensively before U.S. Federal and Texas agencies that regulate motor carriers. She has served on the National Motor Carrier Advisory Committee, a body whose duties included advising the then Federal Highway Administration on issues pertinent to international transportation. Ms. Jordan has also served on the Boards of various shipper organizations focused on the transportation of freight. She has experience representing both motor carriers and shippers in cargo loss and damage claims moving by land, sea, and/or air.
Ms. Jordan has been an integral part of the international scene in Austin since the early 1990's. During such period, she has played a leadership role in the International Partnership of Greater Austin (also known as the International Center of Austin) and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as well as supported the activities of the Camino Real District Export Council, the U.S. Export Assistance Center, the International Hospitality Council of Austin, and the International Good Neighbor Council. Since joining Jackson Walker, Ms. Jordan has spearheaded the creation of the International Business & Law Roundtable, a networking and knowledge management group for executives involved in international business, and is a founding member of the International Business & Law Council of Texas, a group comprised of in-house corporate counsel dealing with international legal issues.
Ms. Jordan is Board Certified in Administrative Law (1990-2005).

- Successfully used Section 301 Trade Act Complaint as tool in arsenal to fight adverse action by foreign government against client.
- Restructured leasing, logistics, and motor carrier operations in Mexico for several of North America's largest motor carriers.
- Negotiated and structured joint venture creating significant multi-modal service offering between the U.S. and Mexico.
- Negotiated and drafted strategic alliances for numerous U.S. interests involved in carrier, intermediary, and service industries in Mexico.
- Represented U.S. interests in acquiring operating rights in Mexico within restricted industry sectors.
- Negotiated and structured airport infrastructure lease and Customs facility sublease in Mexico.
- Represented several clients before U.S. Citizenship and Naturalization Service (and previously with U.S. Immigration & Naturalization Service) regarding entry and removal issues.
- Extensive research and guidance provided to clients on cross-border employment issues, including expatriate agreements and international assignment policies.

Community Involvement
Ms. Jordan is currently active in the Camino Real District Export Council. She is a founding member of the International Business & Law Council of Texas and the International Business & Law Roundtable. She has held leadership positions with the International Partnership of Greater Austin – IP Austin (Board of Directors, 2004-2008), Communities in Schools-Central Texas (Board of Directors, 1998-2000), and the Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (Board of Directors, 1992-95). She is a supporter of the Long Center for Performing Arts.
