Biography

Brian Harris focuses on complex commercial real estate matters, including the acquisition, disposition, and leasing of multi-million dollar properties.

Recently, Mr. Harris' practice has revolved around the representation of landlords and tenants in commercial real estate leasing. He also assisted clients with several important acquisitions, including office buildings, retail centers, and other properties in Texas and across the United States. He has also represented clients in the acquisition of ground lease interests and mixed-use projects. His clients include real estate investors and a large real estate investment trust.

In addition to his leasing and acquisition experience, Mr. Harris regularly represents building owners in a variety of operational matters, including property management and construction.

Representative Matters

• Primary responsibility for leasing a portfolio of office buildings located in Texas, California, Missouri, Illinois, Florida, Tennessee, and Oregon


• Assisted the landlord with the preparation of a 30,000 square foot lease for a global engineering company in Clayton, Missouri


• Assisted the landlord with the preparation of a lease for an entire building for an entertainment company in Santa Monica, California


• Assisted purchaser in $64 million acquisition of more than 20 properties in Dallas, Texas


• Assisted purchaser in $94 million acquisition of lessee's ground lease interest of several office buildings in Palo Alto, California


• Assisted purchaser in $9 million acquisition of retail center in Houston, Texas

Community Involvement

Prior to going to law school, Mr. Harris attended graduate school in Psychology and spent six years working with children, including teaching Fifth Grade in the Houston Independent School District, where he was a member of Teach For America.

Peer Recognition

Mr. Harris was named a "Rising Star" (2007-2008, 2010) by Thomson Reuters, a distinction given to less than 2.5 percent of lawyers in the state of Texas. He was also named as one of H Texas magazine's "Top Lawyers" (2010) and "Houston Professionals on the Fast Track" (2007).
