Biography

Heather Forrest's practice is concentrated in representing secured and unsecured creditors, creditors' committees and Chapter 11 debtors. She has extensive experience in bankruptcy litigation including relief from the automatic stay, adequate assurance issues, preferential and avoidable transfers, and plan and disclosure statement approval. She has performed work in the following business areas: utility service providers, financial institutions, real estate, health care, manufacturing, and advertisement. Ms. Forrest's experience extends to asset sales, secured transactions, and both federal and state court commercial litigation.

Organization Membership

Ms. Forrest is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Dallas Bar Association. She is also a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Dallas Association of Young Bankruptcy Lawyers, and the honorable John C. Ford American Inn of Court. She is a member of the International Women's Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) and was elected 2008 Co-Chair of Memberships for the DFW Chapter of IWIRC.

Community Involvement

Ms. Forrest is on the Dallas Children's Theater board of trustees.

Ms. Forrest is the author of "Loosening the Wrapper on the Sandwich Generation: Private Compensation for Family Caregivers," Volume 63, Issue 2 Louisiana Law Review and "Private Party Access to the Governmental Exception to the Automatic Stay," published in the April 2005 edition of the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) Journal. She co-authored an update of Chapter 16 of Business Bankruptcy Acquisitions, Second Edition published by the ABI in 2006.
