As the leader of an acquisition or divestiture team, Ms. McTopy works closely with and has a keen awareness, and in some cases a working knowledge, of the tax, ERISA, labor, and environmental legal disciplines. Her experience as a tax accountant and knowledge of GAAP and SEC accounting regulations give her a deep understanding of her clients' financial statements and are invaluable in working with her clients' accountants.
Before joining Jackson Walker, Ms. McTopy was a partner in the Houston firm of Norton, Jacobs, Kuhn & McTopy, L.L.P. and a senior tax accountant with a major international accounting firm.
Ms. McTopy is a member of the American Bar Association and the Negotiated Acquisitions Committee of the ABA's Business Section, the State Bar of Texas and the Houston Bar Association.
Ms. McTopy serves as a board member of the Eye Care for Kids Foundation and the Greater Houston Womens' Chamber of Commerce. She is also an advisory board member of The Woods Project, a wilderness education organization that connects inner-city kids with nature and science.
Ms. McTopy has been named a "Top Lawyer" by H Texas magazine.
