Biography

Sue Ayers represents condemnors in all aspects of land acquisition, including negotiation of easements and crossing agreements, the purchase of real property in fee simple, condemnation, and appeal. During the first several years of her practice she gained broad trial and appellate experience representing municipalities, chemical manufacturers, railroads, telecommunications companies, casinos, oil and gas producers, and accounting firms. Ms. Ayers has appeared in state and federal court in cases involving land use issues, eminent domain, personal injury, wrongful death, toxic tort, free speech, and professional malpractice. Before joining Jackson Walker, she represented and advised the Court-appointed Receiver in one of the largest Ponzi scheme cases ever filed by the SEC. Ms. Ayers was briefing attorney to Justice Mack Kidd of the Texas Court of Appeals for the Third District of Texas in Austin in the 2000-2001 term. Ms. Ayers is a licensed teacher in Texas and has nine years of teaching experience.

Organization Membership

Ms. Ayers is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Austin Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Travis County Women Lawyers' Association.

Community Involvement

Ms. Ayers served as Secretary on the Walnut Creek Elementary School's Campus Advisory Counsel from 2003 to 2005 and was a Literacy Champions Tutor from 2006-2007. In 2006, she also served on the Jury Project Committee and was a classroom teacher for the Austin Bar Association's "Pick Me" program. Currently, Ms. Ayers is on the Development Council of A Community for Education ("ACE") which puts highly trained tutors in classrooms throughout Central Texas to improve literacy rates in young children.
