Jim Griffin Speaks on How Health Reform Affects Employers

Jackson Walker partner Jim Griffin spoke to the Chairman's Council of the Plano Chamber of Commerce on March 22, 2013.

Mr. Griffin addressed how health care reform affects employers, noting that employers must determine whether they are considered an "applicable large employer" and decide whether they intend to provide health coverage to their employees that is affordable and provides minimum value. Mr. Griffin urged employers to begin preparing now for January 1, 2014, when employer responsibility provisions will be effective.

Mr. Griffin concentrates his practice in the area of employee benefits and executive compensation. He works with clients in various industries including technology, manufacturing, retailing, energy, and financial services. He advises clients on design, administration and compliance issues arising under the Internal Revenue Code, ERISA, and other laws. Mr. Griffin received his B.B.A. degree, summa cum laude, in 1983 from Texas Tech University and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from SMU in 1986, where he was an editor of the SMU Law Review and a member of Order of the Coif.
