Jay Rutherford Named Texas Lyceum Chairman

Jackson Walker partner Jay Rutherford has been named Chairman of The Texas Lyceum for 2010. Mr. Rutherford served as the Texas Lyceum's President for 2009, and previously served as Vice President of Finance of the organization.

The Texas Lyceum is a leadership organization that acts as a catalyst to bring together diverse opinions and expertise to focus on national and state issues, and seeks to emphasize constructive private sector, public sector and individual responses to the issues. The Texas Lyceum Association is proud of its tradition of reaching out to all communities across Texas to actively recruit civic, business, military, and academic leaders for membership in the Lyceum. Mr. Rutherford is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. His practice consists primarily of representing management in labor, employment discrimination, wrongful termination, sexual harassment and civil rights litigation. He also counsels clients in all matters affecting the employer-employee relationship and compliance with all state and federal employment laws and regulations including all discrimination and wrongful termination laws, the Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1991, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans With Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and all other state and federal labor and employment statutes. Mr. Rutherford earned his B.S. degree, magna cum laude, in Agricultural Economics from Texas Tech University and his J.D. degree from the University of Texas.
