When does the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act become effective? Does the Act apply to situations that have occurred prior to the effective date?
The Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act took effect on April 1, 2020, and eligible employees are entitled to paid sick leave under the Act beginning on the effective date. If a qualifying condition began before April 1 but continues after that date, an otherwise eligible employee would be entitled to leave.
