Jackson Walker Lawyers Participate in the 2015 West Texas Legislative Summit

Three Jackson Walker attorneys will be attending the 2015 West Texas Legislative Summit. The Summit, co-sponsored by Jackson Walker, will be held in San Angelo, Texas, at the Angelo State University C.J. Davidson Conference Center on Aug. 4 and 5.

Drew Darby has been a co-sponsor and host of the event each year since being elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 2006 to serve the people of House District 72. This year he shares his duties with U.S. Congressman Mike Conaway and State Senator Charles Perry. Drew joined Jackson Walker as an of counsel member of the firm’s Real Estate practice group in 2014.

Partner Mike Nasi will be speaking on “Clean Air Act Expansion – Ozone Levels, Particulate Matter, Power Plants.” Representative Drew Darby will be moderating two panels: “The State of Environmental Regulations — Balancing Regulations With Business” on Aug. 4 and “What’s Next for Funding?” on Aug. 5. Jackson Walker partner Sam Allen will also be attending the event.

Mike Nasi is a partner with the Environmental and Legislative Affairs Practice Group in the Austin office of Jackson Walker where he practices environmental law in areas of air, water, reclamation and waste management and manages the firm’s air quality practice. As part of the firm’s Environmental and Energy practice groups, Mike secures environmental permits for and is active in state and federal policy development on behalf of corporations, governmental entities, and cooperatives in the electric power generation, mining, oil & gas, steel manufacturing, and recycling industries. He received his B.A. in government and history from the University of Texas at Austin and his J.D. in environmental law from the University of Houston Law Center.

Representative Drew Darby is a native of San Angelo with more than 40 years in practice and has extensive experience in matters related to real estate, oil and gas/energy, water law, and commercial transactions. He serves in the Texas House of Representatives as a Republican representing District 72, which includes San Angelo and encompasses nine West Texas counties and he is also Chairman of the House Energy Committee. Drew received his B.B.A. in finance from the University of Texas at Austin and his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law.

Sam Allen has been practicing law for over 30 years, most of it in San Angelo. His practice centers around commercial litigation and transactions, the sale and acquisition of businesses and business entities, real estate, secured transactions, and insolvency litigation. Sam has been board certified in business and consumer bankruptcy by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1988.
