Jackson Walker Recognized as “Diverse, Inclusive, and Profitable”

December 22, 2016 | Spotlight

The Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) named Jackson Walker to its 2016 Do Good, Do Well list, which recognizes firms for their excellence both in diversity and in business. The list is determined by a comparison of data from the 2016 AM Law 200 ‘Profits per Partner’ (PPP) report with the percentage of racial/ethnic minorities in partnership as reported in the American Lawyer’s 2016 Diversity Scorecard.

“These firms demonstrate that diversity and inclusion are not mutually exclusive from profitability,” said Jean Lee, President & CEO of the MCCA. “In fact, as clients demand more diverse and inclusive teams, it can impact the business of a law practice in ways that it hasn’t before.”

This distinction is a proud accomplishment for Jackson Walker’s Diversity Committee, which supports the firm’s efforts to create an environment in which all individuals can excel. The committee publishes JW Diversity News, a quarterly newsletter, and Jackson Walker’s Annual Report on Diversity to communicate the goals and achievements of its diversity efforts.

Jackson Walker also supports a variety of pipeline programs to help provide diverse students with opportunities to pursue a career in law. These programs include:

  • Pipeline Committee of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity
  • Committee on Minority Opportunities in the Legal Profession
  • YMBL Sunshine Foundation of Austin
  • Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Street Law Program
  • Houston Urban Debate League (HUDL)
