Jackson Walker Wins Trial Victory in Theft and Breach of Fiduciary Duty Case

April 23, 2014 | Client Results

Jackson Walker, representing New Process Steel as Plaintiff, prevailed after a three-week trial in Harris County District Court on theft and breach of fiduciary duty claims against Jimmy C. Kollaja, New Process Steel’s former Senior Vice President of Finance.

The jury has rendered its verdict, and the Court will soon determine whether additional legal and equitable relief for New Process Steel is appropriate. The jury’s findings that Mr. Kollaja committed theft and breached his fiduciary duties made this hard-fought case a complete victory for New Process Steel.

Jackson Walker lawyers Scott McLaughlin, Kathy Silver, Matt Cavenaugh, and Richard Howell represented New Process Steel at trial, supported at trial by Tim Herndon, Alesha Stavinoha, and Angie Senneff. This win demonstrates Jackson Walker’s depth of experience in representing public and private companies in claims involving breach of fiduciary duty related to former officers and directors, and it is another victory in 2014 for Jackson Walker’s Litigation practice group. In 2013, Jackson Walker’s Litigation section was recognized as the “Litigation Department of the Year” by Texas Lawyer magazine.
