Ben Rhem’s presentation, “Greenhouse Gas Regulations and the Politics of Climate Change in the Oil and Gas Industry,” covered recent Supreme Court decisions, upcoming air quality regulations, and new environmental enforcement initiatives affecting the oil and gas industry.
The event was hosted by the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, which serves as “a collaborative educational non-profit organization dedicated to the scholarly and practical study of the law and regulations relating to mining, oil and gas, water, public lands, energy, environmental protection, and other related areas.”
Ben is an associate in the environmental & legislative practice group at Jackson Walker. Ben advises clients in the energy development, oil and gas, mining, waste and agriculture industries regarding compliance with federal and state environmental laws and regulations. He has extensive experience conducting environmental due diligence for energy transactions, including several natural gas fired power plants and wind energy projects. He also helps clients secure federal and state permits, conduct environmental compliance audits, and participate in the development of state environmental policies. Ben also assists oil and gas clients in securing permits necessary for exploration, production, and transportation operations. Ben received his B.A. from the University of Richmond and his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center.
