Jamila Brinson to Present on Work From Home or Telework Requests at HR Houston’s Educational Program

Jackson Walker partner Jamila M. Brinson will serve as the guest speaker at HR Houston’s Far West “HR in Your Neighborhood” Meeting on Thursday, May 4, 2023.

The presentation will focus on employers’ legal obligations around allowing work from home or telework requests as a reasonable accommodation. Jamila will discuss:

  • Basic background on The Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended, how the Act defines a reasonable accommodation, and when an employer must provide one; and
  • The legal parameters employers should consider when faced with an employee’s request to work from home as a reasonable accommodation, and the potential impact such request may have on the employer’s work environment.

Meet Jamila

Jamila M. Brinson is board certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She advises employers and management on the gamut of employment laws and regulations that impact their workplaces, including in the context of a merger or acquisition, and effectively defends employers and management in employment litigation. Jamila completed a Certificate in Leading Diversity, Equity & Inclusion through Northwestern University’s Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences, and chairs Jackson Walker’s Diversity & Inclusion Counseling practice counseling clients on diversity, equity and inclusion related issues, including the effective formation and implementation of employee resource groups.
