Jackson Walker partner Jamila M. Brinson has been appointed the Vice-Chair of the Employment Law Committee of the Media Law Resource Center.

Founded in 1980 to assist in defending and protecting free press rights under the First Amendment, the Media Law Resource Center (MLRC) is a nonprofit membership organization for media companies and their defense attorneys. In addition to providing a wide range of resources on media and content law and policy issues, the MLRC works with its membership to respond to legislative and policy proposals, and speaks to the press and public on media law and First Amendment issues.

The Employment Law Committee provides a forum for MLRC member firms to address employment concerns, such as wrongful termination and related lawsuits. Each year, the committee seeks the help of more than 80 law firms around the U.S. to prepare MLRC’s 50-State Survey of Employment Libel and Privacy Law, which Jamila has contributed to since 2019. In addition, the committee publishes columns in the MLRC MediaLawLetter on topics relating to libel and privacy in the workplace.
