Jackson Walker Featured in 'Law360' as a Texas Powerhouse Firm
The in-depth profile, published on May 26, 2015, detailed Jackson Walker’s Texas-focused strategy, which has proven attractive to both clients and lawyers looking to make a lateral move.
“Jackson Walker LLP doesn’t rely on offices in New York, Washington, London — or anywhere else outside of Texas, for that matter,” the article stated. “But by sticking to seven cities across the state, the Texas-only firm has been able to nab top-tier lawyers from big-name firms while providing greater value to a client base that includes national banks, media properties and energy companies.”
The article mentioned several high-profile attorneys who have made the move to Jackson Walker over the past year, including Andrew Baumgardner from Haynes and Boone, John Ransom from Porter Hedges, and six attorneys from Thompson & Knight who recently joined the firm’s Real Estate group in Houston.
“I’m one of those who doesn’t think you have to be a 2,000-lawyer firm to have an attractive platform and very high-quality legal work,” firmwide managing partner Wade Cooper told Law360. “Lawyers like working at a firm where they know the management, and where they feel like they’ve got input into the direction of the firm.”
The article also detailed several of the firm’s key successes over the past year, including victories for Lotzi Digital, BSAG, Inc. and Bob Stallings Nissan of Baytown, Inc., and KBTX–TV of Bryan–College Station, which demonstrate the strength of the firm’s Litigation practice.
“We try lawsuits,” Retta Miller, who heads the firm’s Litigation practice, told Law360. “Clients know we try lawsuits, we know how to try lawsuits, and because we do, it makes us better able to assist clients in developing strategy in litigation matters.”
Also highlighted in the article was the firm’s transactional work, including several major projects in which the firm has represented Exelon Corp.
