Jacob Arechiga Speaks at Texas Public Power Association’s Annual Meeting

Jackson Walker attorney Jacob Arechiga spoke at the Texas Public Power Association’s (TPPA) Annual Meeting held in Austin, Texas from July 21, 2014 through July 23, 2014.

The TPPA represents the interests of public power providers in the state of Texas including municipally owned electric utilities, river authorities, joint action agencies, and some electric cooperatives.

Mr. Arechiga’s presentation, “Greenhouse Gas Rulemaking and Impacts to Texas,” provided audience members with an overview of the projected impacts of EPA’s proposed rules to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from the United States’ electric power industry, as well as predictions about future steps that might be taken by the federal government, states, and the courts.

Mr. Arechiga is an associate in the Environmental and Legislative Affairs Practice Group in Jackson Walker’s Austin office. Mr. Arechiga advises clients in the electric power generation, oil and gas, mining, waste, and technology industries regarding federal and state environmental law compliance. As part of the firm’s Environmental practice group, Mr. Arechiga provides guidance to companies navigating evolving air, water, waste, and toxics regulations. He advises clients managing regulatory uncertainty and future compliance burdens, as well as securing requisite environmental permits and proceeding through the administrative hearing and appeal process. He received his A.B. degree from Princeton University and his J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law.
