John Jansonius Appointed to Board of Directors of Texas Access to Justice Commission

Jackson Walker partner John Jansonius was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the Texas Access to Justice Commission. The appointment was approved by the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas at its Annual Meeting in Austin on June 25, 2014.

The Texas Access to Justice Commission is composed of members from the law, education, public service and nonprofit sectors. The Commission organizes its initiatives and projects through committees and task forces, which explore ways to improve access to civil justice for low–income Texans.

Mr. Jansonius has more than 30 years’ experience in labor and employment law. He focuses his practice on the defense of employment discrimination claims, wrongful discharge claims, unfair labor practice claims under the National Labor Relations Act, and denial of benefits claims under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. He has represented clients in numerous jury and nonjury trials in state and federal court and has presented oral arguments to the U.S. Supreme Court and several federal courts of appeals. Mr. Jansonius is board certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He received his B.A., cum laude, from Drake University and his J.D. from Southern Methodist University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Southwestern Law Journal.
