City of San Antonio Enjoined From Enforcing Sick & Safe Leave Ordinance

Late November, State District Judge Peter Sakai enjoined the City of San Antonio from enforcing the Sick & Safe Leave Ordinance, which was due to take effect on December 1. To date, the only paid sick leave ordinance in effect is the Dallas Paid Sick Leave Ordinance.

Changes to Investor Visa Program May Affect Houston Development

With changes to the requirements for the investor visa program now in effect, Houston Public Media interviewed Christian Triantaphyllis about how the new rules could impact future Houston development.

“For years the U.S. has been one of the better bargains in terms of being able to immigrate based off the investment. And I’m curious to see how increasing that investment amount will affect the program overall.”

The National Black Lawyers Recognizes Jamila Brinson, Dawn Holiday, and Judy Bennett Garner

The National Black Lawyers (NBL), an invitation-only network of the top black attorneys from each state, has invited Dawn Holiday to join its list of the 100 “best black attorneys in each state who promote diversity and equality in the legal system.” In addition, the NBL selected Jamila Brinson and Judy Bennett Garner along with two fellow Jackson Walker attorneys for inclusion in its “Top 40 Under 40” list.
