The Pro Bono Champion Awards recognize lawyers who have provided significant pro bono legal services in the healthcare/health law field, helping to increase the availability and quality of healthcare or otherwise provide needed access to the legal system for those in need. Mary Emma’s pro bono work was featured in the June online edition of AHLA Connections.
Mary Emma has practiced law at Jackson Walker for more than 30 years, providing practical advice and strategic thinking to clients in a wide range of legal matters. Her current practice consists of counseling clients on healthcare implications and strategies; representing various organizations as outside general counsel and coordinator of legal work; and consulting in litigation, banking, real estate, and corporate matters involving emerging healthcare issues in the marketplace. Mary Emma is also deeply committed to giving back to the community through civic activities and pro bono work. For many years, she has dedicated more than 200 hours per year to pro bono activities and is a member of the Texas Bar Association Pro Bono College for 2013, 2014, and 2015. Mary Emma serves as counsel to the Board of St. Joseph’s Residence, a non-profit assisted living facility for the indigent and underserved, and provides volunteer legal services for Catholic Charities of Dallas and other Diocesan outreach programs.
