Jackson Walker is pleased to announce that The National Black Lawyers has selected Houston partner Dawn S. Holiday to join its “Top 100” list in 2019.
An invitation-only network of the top black attorneys from each state, The National Black Lawyers (NBL) supplies members with professional resources for increasing their knowledge and building referral connections. Members are plaintiff and defense lawyers from across the nation who practice in over 30 areas of law.
To be recognized among its list of the 100 “best black attorneys in each state who promote diversity and equality in the legal system,” nominees must have an outstanding reputation among peers, the judiciary, and the public; received notable achievements, settlements, and verdicts; nominations from other leading lawyers and current NBL members; leadership and membership in national and state specialty lawyer organizations; and rankings and ratings by leading national evaluation programs.
An experienced litigator and trial attorney, Dawn handles a variety of multi-party lawsuits, including employment litigation, commercial litigation, personal injury, professional liability, workers’ compensation, and general liability defense. Previously, Dawn was recognized among Thomson Reuters’ “Super Lawyers – Rising Stars” (2012-2018), “Who’s Who in Black Houston” (2017), and the National Bar Association’s “Top 40 Under 40” (2016).
Prior to practicing law, Dawn served as an Articles Editor for South Texas Law Review while working toward her J.D. at South Texas College of Law. She continues to serve the law school as a Charter Member of the Black Alumni Chapter.
Outside of her practice, Dawn helps advance equality in the legal profession through her involvement with the Houston Bar Association’s Teach Texas Program, Constitutional Day Reading Program, and Diversity and Inclusion Committee—formerly known as the Minority Opportunities in the Legal Profession Committee (MOILP). She is also a women’s ministry leader, author, and teacher at Crossover Bible Fellowship and currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Northland Christian School in Houston.
