Wade Cooper Named Chairman of Austin Capital Metro Board

“Wade’s experience as an accomplished attorney and civic leader makes him an excellent choice to lead the Board,” said Capital Metro President/CEO Linda S. Watson. “In his time with Capital Metro, he has immersed himself into the transit world, providing thoughtful engagement and forward thinking. We’re fortunate to have him as part of our team.”

Capital Metro is Austin’s regional public transportation provider. The Capital Metro Board consists of eight members that are appointed by various governing entities in the service area. It is responsible for making policies about the operation, control, and management of Capital Metro.

In addition to his work with Capital Metro, Wade currently serves on the Board of the Capitol Area Council Boy Scouts of America, and the Board of the Austin Symphony.

Previously, Wade was a member of the CAMPO Transit Working Group, the Board of Envision Central Texas and was very active on the Board of the Downtown Austin Alliance – a property improvement district – for a number of years, holding several positions, including serving as its Chairman for two terms beginning in October 2002

In his legal practice, Wade has handled substantial commercial litigation, arbitration, and bankruptcy matters in Texas, and in federal and bankruptcy courts in a number of other states. His clients include telecommunications carriers, national banks and other financial institutions, equipment manufacturers, and technology companies. Wade began his practice with Jackson Walker in the Dallas office in 1981. In 1997, he moved to Austin to establish a new office for Jackson Walker. Wade received his B.S. degree, summa cum laude, in Economics and his B.A. degree, summa cum laude, in Political Science from Southern Methodist University. He received his J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of Texas.
