The Real Estate Council of Austin (RECA) selected Jackson Walker partner Wade Cooper as this year’s recipient of the Community Service Award. Wade Cooper received the 2021 Community Service Award at the RECA Annual Awards
Luncheon and Meeting on December 8, 2021.

Outside of his practice and serving as managing partner of Jackson Walker, Wade serves as Chairman of the Board of the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority (CapMetro). Through his involvement with CapMetro, Wade has been deeply involved in the development and approval of Austin’s $7.1 billion public transit plan.

The Project Connect plan will add a new rail system with two light rail lines, a downtown transit tunnel with underground stations, 24 new Park & Rides, and 42 new miles of expanded bus rapid transit service.

In an interview with Nashville Business Journal, Wade said, “Our plan needed to be viewed as something that would really move the needle. I think people came to the conclusion that this is finally something that will solve our traffic problems, or would at least make a meaningful dent in it.”

Jackson Walker proudly congratulates Wade on receiving the Community Service Award and for his involvement in bringing Project Connect to life in Austin.
