Biography
Blake T. Dietrich has a versatile practice that encompasses all aspects of Intellectual Property law, from helping clients secure patent, trademark, and copyright protection to enforcing and defending those rights through litigation.
Blake is admitted before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and has prepared and prosecuted numerous patent and trademark applications. He has experience in a wide range of technologies and industry sectors, including computer hardware and software, IT & telecommunications, printing press operation, electrochemical processes, industrial machinery, and automotive technology.
In the area of IP litigation, he has assumed high–level responsibility, including interviewing technical experts, coordinating pre–trial management, providing technical analysis of non–infringement and invalidity defenses, and preparing briefs for claim construction, or Markman, hearings. He has managed cases involving numerous clients dispersed in various jurisdictions throughout the country.
His educational background in Applied Science and Technology, combined with the broad–based experience he has gained in his legal practice gives him deep insight into clients’ complex technologies, enabling him to develop effective strategies to protect his clients’ interests. He engages with technical experts in a variety of fields, allowing him to effectively navigate both engineering labs and boardrooms. In all aspects of his practice, Blake demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the client’s business and dedication to achieving the client’s goals.
Prior to joining Jackson Walker, Blake worked as a Patent Law Clerk for Glast, Phillips & Murray, where he produced various legal research memoranda for trial preparation. During law school, he interned at Oliff & Berridge, an Intellectual Property law firm in Alexandria, Virginia, where he actively participated in both the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering patent prosecution groups.
