May 12, 2014 | Client Results

The transaction, which was announced on May 9, 2014, will enable Teladoc to expand into new and fast–growing market segments.

Dallas–based Teladoc is the nation’s first and largest telehealth provider with more than 7.5 million members nationwide. Through Teladoc, patients consult with a physician via phone or secure online video to receive treatment for non–emergency medical issues. Telehealth provider AmeriDoc was founded in 2007 and also has its headquarters in Dallas.

A Jackson Walker team including Jim Ryan, Alden Crow, Justin Shipley, and Matthew Kimberlin, worked with Tom Seaman, Teladoc’s general counsel, to represent Teladoc in the acquisition. The successful transaction demonstrates the depth of experience of the firm’s Corporate & Securities and Healthcare practice groups in representing a wide range of healthcare companies and providers in connection with mergers and acquisitions, capital-raising activities, joint ventures, and other strategic alliances.
