Lionel Schooler Speaks at Houston Bar Association Alternative Dispute Resolution Section Seminar on “Ethics in Arbitration”

Lonnie’s topic was “Ethical Practices in Arbitration.” The seminar was conducted at the South Texas College of Law and attendees were eligible for one hour of Ethics CLE credit.

Lonnie currently serves as Secretary to the HBA Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, which is committed to educating and informing its members on the benefits and aspects of mediation, arbitration, and other forms of alternatives to litigation. The Sections’ council meets monthly to plan monthly education programs. Among the Section’s programs is its annual All-Day seminar, being held this year at South Texas College of Law on May 1, 2015. Lonnie is scheduled to speak at that time on the topic “Latest Developments in Arbitration.” Lonnie is also scheduled to present a program on arbitration at the annual American Bar Association Dispute Resolution Section Meeting on April 17, 2015, in Seattle, Washington. Lonnie recently spoke on “Latest Developments in Arbitration” and on “Ten Ways to Make Arbitration Better, Faster and Cheaper” at the annual All-Day Seminar on Dispute Resolution sponsored by the State Bar of Texas Alternative Dispute Resolution Section (which Lonnie currently serves as its Secretary).

Lonnie has developed significant experience in employment law as well as business litigation (with an emphasis in federal practice). He has also served as an arbitrator in business, healthcare, construction, and employment disputes, as well as a consultant to parties on arbitration matters. Lonnie currently serves on the Commercial and Employment panels of the American Arbitration Association. He is also certified as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, an international arbitrator credentialing organization based in London. Lonnie also serves on the Advisory Board of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration, and is also a member of the Houston International Arbitration Club.

He has tried over 50 jury and non-jury cases, and he has argued numerous appeals in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and in the Texas Courts of Appeals. Lonnie received his B.A. in history, with departmental honors, from the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law, where he was elected to the National Order of Barristers.
