Lionel Schooler Speaks on Wage and Hour Compliance

Jackson Walker partner Lionel Schooler will speak at the November member meeting of the Houston Chapter of the American Payroll Association (HCAPA) on Nov. 20, 2014.

Mr. Schooler’s presentation is titled “What Do You Mean I Can’t Do That?!?” and will discuss the perpetual problems employers face regarding wage and hour compliance and how the Department of Labor can make an employer’s life miserable.

The HCAPA is an autonomous and independent chapter of the national American Payroll Association. The local chapter promotes educational and professional networking opportunities for payroll professionals in the Greater Houston and surrounding areas, as well as at the state and national levels. Mr. Schooler has developed significant experience in labor and employment law as well as business litigation (with an emphasis in federal practice). He has also served as an arbitrator in business, healthcare, construction, and employment disputes, as well as a consultant to parties on arbitration matters. Mr. Schooler has twice received the annual President’s Award from the Houston Bar Association recognizing his service to the Bar. Mr. Schooler has also twice received from the Houston Bar Foundation the annual award for Outstanding Legal Article published in the Houston Lawyer. In 2012, Mr. Schooler received the Justice Frank Evans Award from the State Bar’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Section. He has also been named a “Super Lawyer” in Employment and Labor by Thomson Reuters (2012-2014) and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America under Arbitration and Labor Law – Management (2015). Mr. Schooler received his B.A., with departmental honors, from the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law.
