Partner Courtney Carlson has been selected to receive the 2017 Young Alumni Award from the Alumni Association at South Texas College of Law Houston. This is the second year the award has been given; it serves to recognize alumni who have made “significant leadership and service contributions to South Texas College of Law Houston and the legal profession.” Courtney was previously awarded in 2012 with the Outstanding Young Alumni Award, given by the Dean.

Since earning her Juris Doctor from STCL Houston, Courtney has developed a noteworthy legal practice representing clients in commercial litigation matters. Her experience includes litigation in both state and federal courts; she has also co-authored and presented numerous CLE articles on Texas procedural updates and related issues.  Before joining Jackson Walker, Courtney had the honor to serve as a law clerk to Justice David M. Medina of the Supreme Court of Texas.

Courtney is also a dedicated supporter of STCL Houston, serving on the Alumni Association Board of Directors, as a Founding Committee Member of the Young Alumni Council, and as an Adjunct Professor for the Texas Trial and Appellate Procedure and Advocacy courses. She has also coached numerous STCL Moot Court teams, of which many have won national titles.

Courtney will be presented with the Young Alumni Award at the STCL Houston Alumni Association’s Annual Meeting and Luncheon on October 20, 2017.
