At the Media Law Resource Center’s London Conference 2017 last week, Jackson Walker partner Bob Latham advocated the American view in an Oxford-style debate on the law of privacy. The Media Law Resource Center (MLRC) is an organization that provides resources on media and content law issues for publishers, broadcasters, cable programmers, internet operators, and other media professionals.

In the debate, titled “Privacy Law Is Out Of Control,” Bob argued against the strengthening of privacy laws alongside Elizabeth McNamara, an attorney from New York. Arguing the counterpoint were London-based attorney Fraser Campbell and barrister and former FIA president Max Mosley. The debate was chaired by Judge Judith Gibson of New South Wales Australia.
