Jackson Walker Attorneys Speak on US-Mexico Relations at CPA Conference in Mexico

Immigration attorney James Prappas and tax attorney Willie Hornberger traveled to Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico where they gave separate presentations at the Programa General del 4º Congreso Internacional of the Instituto de Contadores Públicos de Nuevo León A.C (ICPNL), an organization of certified public accountants in Nuevo Leon. The conference focused on commercial relations between the United States and Mexico.

In his presentation, Willie provided an update on US tax reform. He gave an in-depth look at President Donald Trump’s proposed tax plan as well as the tax aspects of the “Better Way” Blueprint proposed by conservative members of the House of Representatives. The presentation also provided status updates on important tax regulations for accountants.

Willie was also part of a separate panel discussion on fiscal alternatives for foreign businesses making U.S. investments. For more information, view the slides from each presentation.

James’ presentation covered changes to immigration law under the Trump administration, including the recently-proposed RAISE Act which will affect family immigration, annual visas, and the system of points for the granting of permanent jobs.
