Courtney Carlson Leads South Texas College of Law Moot Court Team to National Victory

Courtney CarlsonJackson Walker associate Courtney T. Carlson recently coached South Texas College of Law's Moot Court Team to victory in the school's 107th National Advocacy Competition.

At the event, students argued a hypothetical case involving the Congressional power to withhold cost of living raises from federal judges. The team defeated New York University School of Law in the final round. This competition marks Ms. Carlson's second win as a coach at this tournament. During law school, she also won this competition and the "Best Brief Award."

Ms. Carlson is an associate in the litigation section at Jackson Walker. While in law school, she interned for Justice Nathan L. Hecht of the Supreme Court of Texas. Prior to joining Jackson Walker, Ms. Carlson also clerked for Justice David M. Medina of the Supreme Court of Texas. She has served as an Adjunct Professor in Advocacy at South Texas College of Law since January 2010 and is also a Founding Member of the South Texas College of Law Young Alumni Council. Ms. Carlson received her B.A degree from the University of Texas and her J.D. degree from South Texas College of Law.
