Jackson Walker Wins Courtroom Victory for Nonprofit
Jackson Walker partner Monte James represented a major multistate nonprofit organization against its former employee in a jury trial in Travis County the week of February 25, 2013.
The employee was the facility manager and person responsible for selling used vehicles from the nonprofit's fleet. The nonprofit alleged that the former employee misappropriated all or part of the funds from 11 vehicle sales.
After a four–day trial, the jury found in favor of Jackson Walker's client on all three of its causes of action: employee theft act, fraud, and breach of fiduciary duty. The jury awarded all of the nonprofit's requested damages as well as 100 percent of its attorneys' fees.
