FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jackson Walker Wins Dismissal of Case Against 'Big Rich Texas' Star Bon Blossman
Jackson Walker L.L.P. partner Bob Latham and associate Amanda Thompson won a significant victory for their client, Bonnie Blossman Myer, when a Dallas County Judge dismissed a defamation suit brought against Dr. Blossman by her Big Rich Texas co–star Pamela Martin-Duarte.
On Aug. 26, 2013, 193rd Judicial District Judge Carl Ginsberg signed an order granting Jackson Walker's motion for summary judgment on behalf of Dr. Blossman and dismissing with prejudice all claims brought against her.
Ms. Martin–Duarte sued Dr. Blossman in April of 2012, bringing causes of action for libel and slander, business disparagement, tortious interference with contract, and conspiracy. The case garnered significant publicity due to the women's starring roles in Big Rich Texas, a reality TV show on the Style Network. Jackson Walker moved for summary judgment on multiple grounds, including the context in which the alleged statements were made.
"I am very pleased with the outcome of this case," said Mr. Latham. "Reality TV thrives on confrontation and controversy, and if cases based on those exchanges were allowed to proliferate, the courts would be very busy indeed."
