Biography

Joel W. Heydenburk focuses his practice on real estate and finance transactions. Mr. Heydenburk regularly represents landlords in the preparation and negotiation of commercial office, retail, and industrial property leases in Texas and other states across the nation. His experience consists of representing buyers and sellers in acquisitions and sales of commercial properties ranging from $1 million and exceeding $200 million. Mr. Heydenburk also has experience in the preparation of loan documents and associated real estate documents for a large commercial mortgage lender and an international bank. He also represents commercial debt holders and servicers in foreclosure proceedings in Texas.

• Assisted in the representation of purchaser in the acquisition of a 20-story Class A office building in Atlanta, Georgia


• Assisted in the representation of seller in the sale of a multi-building office complex in Las Colinas/Irving, Texas


• Assisted in the representation of the owner of industrial warehouse facility in connection with various leasing transactions in Fort Worth, Texas


• Assisted in the representation of large landlord in connection with various lease transactions ranging from 1,000 square feet to 100,000 square feet at various office buildings throughout the southern United States


• Assisted in the representation of lender in connection with a $13 million commercial mortgage transaction in Denver, Colorado


• Assisted in the representation of purchaser in the acquisition of a 20-story Class A office building in Fort Worth, Texas


• Assisted in the representation of seller in the sale of a large commercial farm portfolio located in multiple states throughout the western United States


• Assisted in the representation of banks and bond holders in connection with complex foreclosures throughout North Texas

Community Involvement

Mr. Heydenburk graduated from the 2009-2010 class of Leadership Fort Worth. He has served as President and on the Board of Directors for the Fort Worth-Tarrant County Young Lawyers Association. He has also a volunteered as a teacher for Junior Achievement of Chisholm Trail, Inc. Mr. Heydenburk currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth. He is also the membership chair of Ronald's Young Leaders, an auxiliary organization of the Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth. Mr. Heydenburk has served as a business coach to a undergraduate business student for the BNSF Next Generation Leadership Program at Texas Christian University's Neeley School of Business. He is currently a member of the Fort Worth Independent School District's Census and Nine Single-Member Districts Redistricting Committee, a committee that is appointed by the FWISD Board of Education which is tasked with redrawing board member districts as a result of the 2010 Census.

Peer Recognition

Mr. Heydenburk was named a "Rising Star" by Thomson Reuters (2008-2012), a distinction given to less than 2.5% of lawyers in the state of Texas. He was also named a "Top Attorney" by Fort Worth, Texas magazine (2006-2011). In 2011, Mr. Heydenburk was selected as one of the "40 Under 40" award recipients by Fort Worth Business Press.
