Austin Office Receives “A” Grade in Law Firm Diversity Report Card

August 28, 2017 | Spotlight

Jackson Walker’s Austin office has earned an ‘A’ grade in the 2016 Law Firm Diversity Report Card which aggregates data on the hire, retention, and promotion of racial and ethnic minorities and women at major law firms within the city for the past year.

The report card provides grades for the 25 largest firms in Austin. Grades are determined by the Diversity Report Card Committee which is comprised of representatives from the Hispanic Bar Association of Austin, the Austin Black Lawyers Association, the Austin Asian American Bar Association, the South Asian Bar Association of Austin, the Austin LGBT Bar Association, and the Travis County Women Lawyers’ Association.

Of the five firms that earned an ‘A’ grade, Jackson Walker was the only one to have done so for each of the past 5 years. Jackson Walker was also recognized for the following:

  • Raising the number of female equity partners within the firm by 6 percent
  • Being one of only six firms on the list to participate in the Austin Bar Association’s Diversity Fellowship Program
  • Being one of only 11 firms to report having openly LGBT attorneys

This recognition is particularly notable as Jackson Walker’s Austin office is the city’s largest law firm. Jackson Walker engages in dedicated efforts to attract, retain, and promote a diverse range of attorneys across all of its offices.
