As a New Fall Associate, your journey at Jackson Walker begins with a week-long NFA Orientation Program. This comprehensive program equips new associates with the foundation they need to tackle challenging legal work. Training covers essential professional and personal topics, including:

  • Client service
  • Legal ethics
  • Law firm economics
  • Timekeeping and billing
  • Assignment management
  • Stress and time management

As a lateral associate, our in-house Attorney Development team meets with you to assess your needs and set you on the path for partnership.

We offer a wide range of training programs to empower your development as an attorney. These programs include:

  • Critical Skills Series: Develop your ownership, leadership, management, and business development skills.
  • Emerging Leaders Program: Master the fundamentals of effective leadership, from self-leadership to leading others and teams.
  • Business Development Mentor Program: Gain practical experience in business development by working alongside experienced Jackson Walker partners.
  • Pathway to Partnership Program: Receive the guidance and information needed to advance to partnership roles.
  • Litigation & Transactional Training: Whether you focus on litigation or transactional law, Jackson Walker offers targeted training programs to enhance your legal knowledge. We provide extensive training in contract drafting, negotiation, financial literacy, and business acumen, and four programs conducted in partnership with the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA). Additionally, you’ll have access to a vast library of on-demand training modules on a wide range of legal and professional development topics.
  • On-Demand Learning & Continuing Education (CLE): Stay ahead of the curve with our extensive library of on-demand training modules covering a wide range of substantive legal topics and professional skills. Additionally, JW offers over 100 internal CLEs annually, delivered through live presentations and on-demand videos.

We provide clear benchmarks to guide your professional development journey, including:

  • Practice-specific benchmarks for legal expertise
  • Competency frameworks for professional skills, leadership, and business development
