The award is given annually to an outstanding Texas lawyer who exhibits an unreserved commitment to clients and to the legal profession. The recipient demonstrates the qualities of an accomplished legal writer and researcher, a talented and dedicated practicing lawyer, a servant of the legal profession as a volunteer, and an advocate on its behalf.

Byron has been listed for many years in The Best Lawyers in America under Corporate, M&A, or Securities Law. He also has been consistently named a “Super Lawyer” by Thomson Reuters and a “Best Lawyer in Dallas” by D Magazine.

Byron is engaged in a corporate, partnership, securities, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and financing practice. Byron has extensive experience in business entity formation and governance matters, M&A, and financing transactions in a wide variety of industries including energy, financial, and technology. In addition to handling transactions, he advises boards of directors and their audit, compensation, and special committees with respect to fiduciary duty and other corporate governance issues, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, special investigations, and other issues. Byron received his B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law.
