HOUSTON, Texas—Jackson Walker, one of Texas’ oldest and largest law firms, has moved into new offices at 1401 McKinney Street, occupying two and one-half floors of 5 Houston Center, the new 27-story office tower managed by Crescent 5 Houston Center, L.P., a subsidiary of Crescent Real Estate Equities Company. This move marks a pattern of continued expansion for the Houston office and the law firm over the last decade. The local office has moved to new quarters to meet the demands of its growth and enhanced capacities.
In a period when many law firms in Texas and the U.S. are downsizing due to recent economic conditions, the Houston Jackson Walker office has grown from 37 attorneys in 1991 to 70 attorneys in 2002.
David G. Dunlap, Managing Partner of the Houston office, states that, “Jackson Walker’s move to the dynamic east side of the central business district with the George R. Brown Convention Center, the Convention Center Hotel, the basketball/hockey Arena and Minute Maid Park is symbolic of the vibrant growth of our office.” Dunlap adds, “We are so pleased to be moving into the first office tower constructed in the central business district in over 15 years and our firm is delighted to be a tenant of Crescent Real Estate Equities.”
Jane Page, Senior Vice President of asset management and leasing for Crescent’s Houston Region, says, “The distinguished law firm of Jackson Walker is known for the high quality of legal services it provides for its clients, and it is a pleasure to have them as a customer.”
Jackson Walker’s presence in Houston traces its roots back to joining forces with Dotson & Scofield in January 1990 to become one of the ten largest Texas-based law firms. Name partners Wayne G. Dotson and John B. Scofield are an integral part of the office today. Additionally, the local office has grown during the past decade by the continual addition of attorneys and practice area expertise.
Today, Jackson Walker offers expertise in virtually every area of the law through a strong regional base of over 300 attorneys in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Richardson, San Angelo, and San Antonio. The continual development of a broad foundation of practice areas has enabled the firm to attract an outstanding group of clients including Fortune 500 companies, multi-national corporations, major financial institutions, and a wide range of publicly traded corporations and closely held businesses. Jackson Walker in 1994 was one of the founding members of Globalaw, a worldwide network of law firms with offices throughout the U.S. and in over 60 foreign countries.
As part of the firm’s commitment to excellence, a common characteristic stands out: a focus on practical, cost-effective solutions to legal problems that add value and emphasize what works for Jackson Walker’s clients based on the highest professional standards.
