Jackson Walker presented the Susan Halsey Tiger Award to Austin partner Marilyn Brown at the Firm’s 2026 All-Attorney Retreat. The award honors her decision to donate a kidney for her Austin colleague, senior counsel Peter C. Hansen. The donation was made through a system that allows two or more incompatible donor-recipient pairs to “trade” donors so that everyone receives a compatible organ.

The Susan Halsey Tiger Award is named in memory of the late Jackson Walker partner Susan Halsey. It recognizes members of the Jackson Walker community who show courage, selflessness, and a strong commitment to others. Honorees are people whose actions reflect exceptional strength, compassion, and dedication to helping those around them.

Marilyn’s gift to Peter reflects those values. Her decision to give a colleague the gift of renewed health is an example of the compassion and spirit of service that the award was created to celebrate.
