Jackson Walker Represents Air Medical in Sale to Global Company

March 13, 2017 | Client Results

A team of Jackson Walker attorneys has successfully represented San-Antonio-based Air Medical in the sale of its business to Birmingham-based AirMed International, LLC. Both Air Medical and AirMed provide flight-based medical transport services both domestically and internationally.  Air Medical is the largest fixed wing air ambulance company in Texas.

Becoming part of AirMed will help Air Medical to raise its profile and provide its services to a wider base of patients. AirMed plans to build up Air Medical’s capabilities, pledging to add six jets and over 20 King Air planes to its fleet. AirMed has shown interest in acquiring Air Medical for quite some time, based on the company’s remarkable growth and its hold on the San Antonio market, including providing domestic and international services to many of the major hospitals and their patients.

In negotiating the deal, the Jackson Walker team helped its client secure provisions specifying that AirMed International will retain the Air Medical name and most of its employees.

Air Medical will remain in San Antonio and continue to serve its existing client base while expanding its personnel, equipment, and operations. The deal team was made up of Patrick Tobin and Alexine Friedman with respect to corporate issues, Nate Smithson with respect to tax issues, and Jim Griffin with respect to employee benefits.
