John Jansonius Recognized as Outstanding Director by State Bar of Texas
The State Bar of Texas (SBOT) has honored Jackson Walker partner John V. Jansonius with the Outstanding Director award for his service as a member of the Board of Directors. The award recognizes John’s contributions as a Board member during his three-year term which ran from 2014 to 2017.
John has been actively involved with the SBOT for several years. Before being elected to the Board in 2014, John served as Sections Representative to the Board from 2008 to 2011 and has held leadership positions on several SBOT sections and committees, including Chair of the Legislative Policy Committee, Chair of the Labor & Employment Section, Chair of the Client Security Fund, and Chair of the Insurance/Membership Sub-Committee. He has served on the Board’s Executive Committee, Nominations Committee, and as the Board’s liaison to the Judicial Section, Litigation Section, and Business Law Section.
From 2008 to 2011, John served on the SBOT District 6 Grievance Committee and was Panel Chair from 2010 to 2011. Additionally, John has served for the past three years as a Commissioner of the Texas Access to Justice Commission which works to make legal services available to low-income Texans.

John V. Jansonius has 36 years’ experience in labor and employment law. He focuses his practice on: contract and compensation negotiations and disputes with corporate officers and managers; defense of employment discrimination claims and wrongful discharge claims; collective bargaining, representation cases, and unfair labor practice claims under the National Labor Relations Act; denial of benefits claims under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act; and advising on employment and labor aspects of business transactions.
He has represented clients in numerous jury and non-jury trials in state and federal court and has presented oral arguments to the U.S. Supreme Court and the federal circuit courts of appeals. John is ranked for Labor & Employment in the prestigious Chambers USA: America’s Leaders for Business (Band 1). He has also been recognized in Employment Law and Labor Law by The Best Lawyers in America and was named to D Magazine’s Best Lawyers in Dallas list in 2017.
