Robert Soza SALSA Luncheon 2024 Presidents Award

Robert took the lead in revitalizing the pro bono arm of the San Antonio Bar Association (SABA), the Community Justice Program, which led to the creation of SALSA headed by an independent board of directors dedicated to growing volunteer pro bono legal services in San Antonio and surrounding communities. Serving as its inaugural board president, Robert played a pivotal role in securing funding and ensuring the success of SALSA’s mission to provide vital legal representation to those in San Antonio that are locked out of our justice system because they cannot afford legal representation.

San Antonio Managing Partner Julia W. Mann expressed, “In recognition of his innovative and tireless efforts in establishing and elevating SALSA as a example of hope in our community, Robert’s legacy within this organization will continue to live on.”

Jackson Walker has been actively engaged in various initiatives alongside SALSA. Throughout 2020, our attorneys in San Antonio collaborated with SALSA on the Wills for Healthcare Workers Project, supporting frontline workers combating COVID-19. Additionally, amidst pandemic-induced job losses and eviction concerns, JW attorneys partnered with SALSA, Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, and St. Mary’s Law School to assist families facing eviction. In the aftermath of the February winter storm, Jackson Walker teamed up with SALSA to aid Bexar County residents in filing FEMA Appeals, crucial for accessing federal disaster relief funds. Attorneys from across the state volunteered their time to provide invaluable assistance.

As the title sponsor of the Justice Luncheon, Jackson Walker takes pride in its unwavering support for pro bono efforts, offering both legal expertise and financial support. To learn more about the firm’s commitment to promoting equal access to justice, visit our Pro Bono page.
