Jackson Walker Recognized by MCCA for Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) has included Jackson Walker among the top 10 in the midsize firm category of its newly released Diversity Scorecard, which assesses and ranks law firms based on the effectiveness of their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts.

Based on data collected by MCCA and provided by law firms for the annual Law Firm Diversity Survey, the Diversity Scorecard evaluates each participating law firm’s demographics, recruitment, retention/attrition, and promotion for women and diverse groups, particularly those from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds. The Scorecard then measures each firm’s data and compares its progress to similar sized firms and the overall industry.

In an announcement regarding the Diversity Scorecard, MCCA Board Member Anne Robinson said, “The Scorecard has the potential to redefine diversity in the legal profession, by setting measurable industry benchmarks for firms of all sizes—and letting anybody, anywhere compare firms before making their hiring decisions. It’s a huge benefit for law firms and companies alike, and we at Vanguard are proud to affirm it as the industry standard.”

“This has been an exciting year for our Diversity & Inclusion Committee at Jackson Walker,” Committee Chair Suzan Kedron said. “We are honored to be listed among the top 10 midsize law firms in MCCA’s Diversity Scorecard, and we look forward to continuing our commitment to growing the diversity of our Firm and the legal profession as a whole.”

This recognition among MCCA’s Diversity Scorecard follows a recent announcement regarding the Firm’s participation in the Mansfield Rule 5.0 Certification process, which requires participating firms to track candidate pools in a disaggregated manner; submit to Chambers USA nominations for at least 30% underrepresented attorneys to increase external visibility; and consider 30% underrepresented individuals when hiring and promoting C-level or other senior-level professional staff roles.

As Jackson Walker focuses on diversifying leadership, hiring attorneys who come from underrepresented communities, and increasing their visibility among clients and the overall legal community, visit the Diversity & Inclusion page for updates on the Firm’s progress.
