Texas Water Law Conference Features Leonard Dougal on Regulatory Challenges in Supplying Water for Oil and Gas Industry

November 1, 2018 | Speaking Engagements

The growth in energy production in Texas has led to a dramatic increase in demand for water for hydraulic fracturing operations (fracking), and led to innovative methods of cleaning and reusing produced and flow-back water. With numerous laws and regulations affecting the production and use of water, and on-going conflicts between groundwater and surface water interests, Jackson Walker partner Leonard Dougal presented his legal insights at the 9th Annual Texas Water Law Conference regarding securing water for use by the oil and gas industry.

Presented by the CLE International Water Law Institute, the Texas Water Law Conference addressed key updates on Texas surface water and groundwater from all points of view. In addition to Leonard’s presentation – “Water for Oil: Regulatory Challenges in Supplying Water for Hydraulic Fracturing,” the conference featured a legislative overview and topics regarding general land office ownership, water conservation and water management, endangered species, water market and value, and more.
