Biography
Jazmene McMillan is an associate in the Trial & Appellate Litigation practice of Jackson Walker’s Houston office.
Jazmene graduated third in her class from Howard University School of Law, where she served on the Howard Law Journal and participated in the Criminal Justice Clinic. She also served as a research assistant and as a teaching assistant for Legislation & Regulation and Property.
During law school, Jazmene gained substantial hands-on advocacy experience representing clients in misdemeanor matters before the D.C. Superior Court. As a student attorney, she successfully tried two simple assault cases, prevailed on a motion to dismiss a trespass case, and contributed to an amicus brief filed with the U.S. Supreme Court. Jazmene served as a legal intern with the Capital Habeas Unit of the Federal Public Defender Service for the Northern District of Texas, where she researched complex legal issues, drafted legal memoranda, and assisted with a petition for certiorari filed with the U.S. Supreme Court. She previously interned with the Public Defender Service in Washington, D.C., where she represented children in disciplinary hearings and advocated on behalf of youth residents.
Before joining Jackson Walker as an associate, Jazmene spent two summers with the firm as a Summer Associate in the Litigation Group. Her experience included legal research and writing, drafting litigation documents, including docket control orders and discovery, and contributing to case strategy. Prior to law school, Jazmene attended Loyola University New Orleans, where she played on the women’s basketball team and earned All-Conference and Louisiana All-Academic Team honors.
