Designed for energy professionals, the IEL Leadership Class comprises 41 individuals from 10 states, Canada, and Mexico who are diverse in job type, experience, industry representation, gender, race, and ethnicity. Their experience ranges from three to 13 years in oil and gas litigation and transactions.

The IEL Leadership Academy will begin online in July, and the class will meet in October at a class retreat in New Orleans, Louisiana. The program will continue through spring 2023 and will consist of webinars, networking events, and other programming focused on young energy professionals.

Courtney is the second Jackson Walker attorney to be selected to the IEL Leadership Class. Energy Chair Jesse S. Lotay was the first, and he was one of the members of the inaugural class in 2018.

Founded in Dallas, Texas, in 1947, the IEL is among the oldest continuing legal education providers in the world and is a division of The Center for American and International Law. The membership organization offers several educational conferences and seminars every year, publishes papers and periodicals, and provides a forum to discuss modern issues affecting the energy industries.
