Jesse S. Lotay Named to Inaugural Institute for Energy Law Leadership Class

Jackson Walker is pleased to announce San Antonio partner Jesse S. Lotay has been selected to participate in the inaugural Leadership Class of the Institute for Energy Law (IEL) beginning September 2018.

Designed for energy professionals, the IEL Leadership Class comprises 35 individuals from seven states and the District of Columbia who are diverse in job type, experience, industry representation, gender, race, and ethnicity.

In September, the IEL Leadership Academy begins with a retreat in Houston geared specifically toward energy attorneys. The program will continue through April 2019 with webinars, networking events, and programming at the 70th Annual Oil & Gas Law Conference in Houston and leading up to graduation at the 3rd National Young Energy Professionals’ Law Conference in San Antonio.

Founded in Dallas, Texas, in 1947, the IEL is among the oldest continuing legal education providers in the world and is a division of The Center for American and International Law. The membership organization offers several educational conferences and seminars every year, publishes papers and periodicals, and provides a forum to discuss modern issues affecting the energy industries.

Meet Jesse

Jesse S. Lotay is a San Antonio partner and energy, structured finance, and commodities and derivatives attorney. He has focused experience representing clients on business and transactional matters and works with clients as a strategic partner to accomplish business objectives, meet critical deadlines, and maximize financial results. Jesse’s practice includes advising clients on energy-related mergers and acquisitions, energy-based commodities, derivatives, and other structured products, marketing and trading activities, and financially and physically settled hedging transactions. In addition to his role as a partner and leader of the Commodities and Derivatives team at Jackson Walker, Jesse serves on the World Affairs Council of San Antonio Board of Trustees and chairs its Young Professionals Committee. He is also an active member of the Board of Directors of Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio, of which he also chairs Code Blue, its young professionals chapter that advances the organization through volunteering, fundraising, networking, and community engagement. Recently, Jesse was voted by his peers to be included in San Antonio Scene’s 2018 “Best S.A. Lawyers” list.
