Jackson Walker announces the addition of Katie Carmona as a senior counsel in the Trial & Appellate Litigation practice in Austin. Joining Jackson Walker after serving as a career law clerk to U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel of the Western District of Texas, Katie offers over 25 years of experience handling complex trial and appellate cases in the areas of intellectual property, constitutional issues, election law, contracts, securities, criminal law, administrative law, public utilities, ERISA, and general civil litigation.

“Over the past 20 years, I have had the distinct pleasure of working with Judge Yeakel, handling complex cases and mentoring many clerks and interns in the court. I look forward to this next chapter in my career as an attorney at Jackson Walker, which has a strong litigation group that is well-respected,” Katie stated.

“Katie possesses a great understanding of effective litigation strategies having worked alongside Judge Yeakel for many years. That experience will be a great asset to our clients engaged in federal court litigation in the Western District of Texas and other federal district courts across Texas,” said W. Ross Forbes, chair of Jackson Walker’s litigation practice.

In addition to the Western District of Texas, Katie has clerked in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. She also has previous experience in private practice handling products liability, insurance defense and regulation, and labor and employment issues. She has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Texas.

She is a Master of the Honorable Lee Yeakel Intellectual Property American Inn of Court, a member of The Bar & Grill Singers, and a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.

Katie obtained her J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law and her B.A. from Rice University.
