Bob Latham to Speak on “Risk Management for a Newsroom in Crisis”

Jackson Walker partner Bob Latham will speak at the 28th Annual Media and the Law Seminar on April 16-17, 2015, in Kansas City, Missouri. Mr. Latham will moderate a panel discussion titled “Risk Management for a Newsroom in Crisis.”

The panel discussion will address disaster planning and insurance for media operations and journalists in harm’s way. Other panelists are scheduled to include David M Giles of The E.W. Scripps Company, Michal Gnatek of Lockton Companies, Joanne Richardson of Hiscox USA, David B. Smallman of Smallman + Snyder Law Group, and Jeff Lehr of The Joplin Globe.

The Media and the Law Seminar is sponsored each year by the University of Kansas School of Law and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association Media Law Committee. This year’s program is titled, “Rules of Engagement: Journalists, Police and the Daze of Disorder,” and will explore the constitutional conflicts that arise when reporters cover clashes between law enforcement and protestors. Mr. Latham has tried significant cases in numerous jurisdictions involving a broad range of subject matter. He has developed nationally recognized expertise in the areas of media law and intellectual property litigation and chairs both practice areas at Jackson Walker. He received his B.A. from Stanford University and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
