Avoiding “Single Event” Hostile Work Environment Claims

In Woods v. Cantrell, the Fifth Circuit recently approved a rare “single event” claim of hostile work environment situation which portends potential hazards for employers. This recent decision underscores the hazard for employers in not properly training and disciplining supervisors about workplace conduct. Such training must be repeated regularly to ensure proper standards of conduct apply in the workplace.

What Immigrant Investors Need to Know About the EB-5 Reform and Integrity Act

Under the new legislation, EB-5 visas shall continue to be made available to a qualified immigrant investor who has invested, or is in the process of investing, capital in an amount not less than $1,050,000, or $800,000 for TEA and infrastructure projects; and whose commercial enterprise must benefit the nation’s economy by creating full-time employment for at least 10 qualifying employees.

Lonnie Schooler Serves as Board Member of CIArb North America Branch

Lionel M. Schooler has been selected as a board member of the North America Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), an international arbitration credentialing group. Lonnie will continue to serve as Chair of the Texas Chapter of the North American Branch, a position he has held since 2018.
