Erica GieseJackson Walker proudly announces San Antonio partner Erica Benites Giese’s selection to serve on the Latina Commission of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA).

The HNBA’s Latina Commission was formed in 2008 to study and remedy barriers to entry and advancement faced by Latina attorneys. Over the past 15 years, the Commission has introduced the Latina Leadership Academy, Latina Executive Leadership Program, Pearls of Wisdom, and the Primera Abogada Award to offer professional development and leadership training programs that address those barriers.

Throughout the next year, Erica will help the Commission reinforce those programs and consider new programs that will strengthen the pipeline of Latinas entering the practice of law.

Outside of leading Jackson Walker’s Investigations & White Collar Defense practice, Erica is an active member of the HNBA and serves on several court-appointed committees, including the Criminal Justice Act Panel Committee, the San Antonio Bar Association Federal Courts Committee, and the Western District of Texas Admissions Committee. She also previously served as Deputy Region XII President of the HNBA. In addition to the HNBA, Erica is also actively involved with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the American Bar Association’s Women’s White Collar Defense Section, and the Federal Bar Association’s San Antonio Chapter.

Within the community, Erica serves one of her alma maters, Texas State University, as a member of the Leadership Council of the Development Foundation.  She also serves as a mentor for St. Mary’s University School of Law’s first-generation mentorship program.
